Uncanny Factoid: Reactor Playground

Imagine a Nuclear reactor as a place to play and hang out!

When Germany didn’t complete their nuclear reactor and decided not to use it this guy took control and turned it into an amusement park. The name of this amusement park is Wunderland Kalkar and it is located in Kalkar Germany and is visited by over 600,000 people a year.

The park boosts 40+ rides including a rock climb on the surface of the reactor and a swing that soars in the air on the inside of the reactor. Other rides include quad bikes, go-carts, and other fun amusement park rides.

Learn Something Fun:  The oldest operating amusement park is Bakken in Copehagen, Denmark. The site has been an attraction since 1583, when a natural spring was found there and started to draw crowds as well as entertainers and hawkers looking to make a buck. The park continued to expanded, gaining animals in 1670 and cabarets in 1866. Moving rides and more modern attractions began to arrive in the 20th century and it is still a draw for summer crowds and tourists. Today, Bakken is the second most popular attraction in Denmark.
